It's a nice time of year to spot the flowering Autumn trees and shrubs like the Harpin Banksia (banksia Spinulosa var. collina). The Sunshine Coast has an awesome display of flowing natives.

It's the time of the year again where I can be greeted by the Banksia Spinulosa var. Collins in the streets. No wonder they are called "birthday candles", they do shape like candles with Chrsitmas-y feeling. The good thing these native plants are easy to cultivate and propagate. This means gardeners can try this at home. you're not only doing your house a favor but also helping our ecosystem because Harpin Banksia are good food source for bees and nectar feeding birds.
